Default Navonics chip

I just bought new 12 evo Simrad unit with radar and was wondering if anyone new the best navonics card to run with it I fish from sandy hook to lbi out to the canyons. I was looking and it looks like it splits the center of nj. Was wondering if you have to buy two chips or if there's one that covers the whole coast to offshore. Thanks Pete

We've got a Raymarine that uses Navionics and we have the gold card which is now called the Plus Card. The chart contains all of US and Canada.

With the platinum card you have to buy by a more specific region since there is more data on it. However, from what I've read, it does not do much fishing wise... Most of the extras are photos of points of interests like inlets, marinas etc, satellite overlays, 3D charts and a little more detail on charts but not much.

I think your best bet might be the plus card.

I agree.. I had the platinum card in my Raymarine E series.... lots of extra fluff that will do nothing to help you catch fish... and all that image and 3d rendering just slows the processing of the whole display down..

Don't have any first hand experience but I've heard good things about Hot Spots.
