Default Still LOCKED UP...Working the Appalachian Ridge..FLAG !!

One of the best ice seasons continues into the end of February and my bet is into March. With the questionable forecast for Sunday we made the move for Saturday a few miles North as the crow flies from my lake. Both lakes still locked up solid. This one is one of the best spots with gorgeous panoramic views of the Appalachian mountain ridge. There is just something special about this spot. Great Fishing and Great People.... you know the drill. We also hit the local watering hole for fish stories and coca-colas.
I spared you all and edited out the "stringer photo". Just a few of the Stringer Worthy photos for your viewing pleasure.
Could be it for me as we will be in AC for the weekend making a donation at the Hard Rock and looking for a new boat and then off to the Keys with my wife and fine young men for some refreshing warmer climate and hopefully very tight lines inshore and offshore. Thanks for playing along......Catchem up and be safe out there !!!
FLLLAAAAAAG !!! now replaced with screamin drag and ONE ONNNNN !!!!!

Several nice perch but the strangest thing is not one crappie from this lake all ice season and in the spring and summer when u try to bass fish the crappies are actually a nuisance.....and really nice crappies as well..... my cousins grew up here on this lake and know it like the back of their hand. My cousin Ed jigged holes in all the areas of the lake on Sat and once again no crappies cooperating.

Yes....this place hugs the base of the mountain where we used to hike and hunt grouse as kids....and yes back then some 40 years ago there was a respectable grouse population. We would slow stalk the mountain alder and have ball chasing those crazy birds. Up on top of that rock ridge there is Mount Paradise where there is a natural crater lake. Very cool.

We were chatting on Saturday about how we used to disappear all day hiking , hunting and hanging out up on the mountain.....no one had a clue where we were.....and THERE WERE NO CELLPHONES. Never had a problem.

Nice pics. Great fishing in there. Got my first walleye in the stream that outflows that lake. Boomers place great bar that has Yukon jack!!!

Stay safe!
