Critique my Arsenal!
Hello Everyone!
Just wanted so post the weapons in my arsenal this year. I am getting out in the spring for the first time in many years. These will mainly be for LMB, but I was going to try getting into pike since there are so many good reports. I have your worms, Jig & Pig, trailers, spinnerbaits, and crankbaits. Please feel free to critique my arsenal; must have lures that I dont have (especially for pike since this is all bass stuff), your experiences with things I do have, etc... Feel free to post your own CMA to see if anyone can fill the gaps in your tackle box! Thanks all, and tight lines! |

Re: Critique my Arsenal!
For pike I'd say add a few husky jerks spinner baits that are either white, chartreuse, or white/chartreuse variation. Id also go with a swim bait or some type but you definitely have a solid start there. Cant give all my secrets, but look into some of the older threads on here to see what people say about lure selection. Don't be afraid to throw a swimjig for pike either.

Re: Critique my Arsenal!
Thanks for the tip Basspilot!
I figure a lot of these will work for pike as well as bass. I have been looking at the latest few threads, but man, lots of pike fishin going on around here! Thanks again! |

Re: Critique my Arsenal!
You should add a topwater bait. Nothings more exiting then seeing a shadow chase down a buzzbait, or a frog explosion.

Nice spread. Just remember, fish dont get big and fat eating plastic and metal.

Re: Critique my Arsenal!
All good stuff.. I might add some good size inline spinners, a topwater, a crankbait or two,and a few more neutral/organic colors for the plastics such as motor oil, brown, greenish brown etc.. I have some days where natural colors outfish black/white/ chartreuse by a wide margin.. Smallmouths in streams or rocky lakes LOVE anything thats "crayfish" colored, as do LMB in grassy/paddy areas at times... bob

Re: Critique my Arsenal!
Pick up some terminal tackle if you plan on going for Pike, such as leader material (steel or 20lb+ flouro), swivels, etc.
More Senkos. They are killer for LMB's and SMB's, but you will lose a fair share from epic jumps or just smaller fish looking for a bigger meal. They make little rubber O-rings that you slide onto the Senko to prevent it from getting ripped off. I've gone through 2 full bags of Senko's in an afternoon from Crappies ripping them off lol.

+1 on Skunk's comment - get the wacky tool - you won't regret it. Buy extra 0-rings with the tool.
Not necessarily endorsing Bass Pro, just the first link I found - you can find them locally. http://www.basspro.com/OWacky-Tool/product/95042/ |
