I don't trout fish to much anymore but this brook is great. My favorite river is the BIG D. I do very well on the big river. Walleye, smallies, shad, stripers, channels, flatheads, holdover trout and miusky. The BIG D is my 2nd home.

Smile Re: Favorite River

I have tried the big D several times since i got my kayak last spring --but have not had any luck with the fishing so far--i usually am near Worthigton or the Gap because of easy access--maybe my location or time of year is off--as for trout I always have a soft spot for the Flatbrook where my dad started us on our fishing as kids.

Raritan since it's a few blocks for my house. Even though I CAN'T CATCH SHIT OUT OF THERE BESIDES WHITE PERCH AND SMALL CATS.

I'd probably say Delaware if it was closer to my house.

To be honest I'd have to say the Ramapo early spring for smallies. Other than that though I'd have to go with the Passaic both below and above the dundee.

Pompton River, the quiet little stepsister of the Passaic. Tons of Pike, rarely a skunking.

Pohatcong creek, started fishing again a couple years ago and have found the little creek to be very friendly and close to may house. But to be honest, I have many favorite rivers, it is usually the one I'm on, Big D, Musky SB or the Pohat. Spruce Run res and the South Branch around High Bridge are very special to me, I grew up fishing them and when you go back and fish them it brings back some fond memories as some place down along the river haven't changed in 50 years.

I would have to say THE RARITAN as well. I fish both ends, up north and down to the bay! I've had many memorable outings as almost all of my largest trout have come from there as well as some unbelievable salt water fishing on the lower end. Hoping that the shad really establishing a good run which would only make it a greater river than it already is..............

Musconnetcong is by far my favorite river in NJ.. Areas from Hackettstown down.. Lots of great spots and some of my favorite holes!
