Default Looking for equipment recommendations for RV lakers

I am planning to start fishing for the lakers in Round Valley. I see a lot of guys jig with various jigs and binsky blades. I'd like some recommendations on the best rod and reel setups. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

6'6 to 7' medium rod fast action. 2500-3000 sized reel spooled with 10-15 lb braid. 3 'Fluoro top shot of 8-10 lb test. Chrisper should chime in. He's a laker whore hahaha!

Thanks for the quick responses and good info. Gotta wait for Chrisper and others to add some info. You can never get too much good input. Thanks again.

There's a much better priced alternative to the "blade bait" lure being recommended..
There is a supplier that has the same design lure at half the price available in a much wider range of colors and patterns, and offers them up to 1 oz.. I have been using them for several years for jigging lakers in 100 FOW and deeper.. Also they are powder coated, and the finish doesn't come off after getting chewed on..

Don't want to piss in anyone's Cheerios, so PM me and I'll let you know where to get them.. I have a few colors I would recommend above others, that have worked for me with Lakers as well as Browns,Rainbows, and LL Salmon.

Do you want to jig specifically? Get two rods and bottom bounce you will catch alot more and cover alot more ground, those Lakers see alot of the same stuff over there everyone uses binskys, and jiggin raps they are not dumb as the ones that are over at Merill,

def learn how to jig them, dragging them in on trolling gear is less fun and honestly not as efficient as you'd think once you find them stacked.

sent you a pm...i don't want to reveal any info to jigman here, next thing i know he'll be on my corner whoring himself out to all my lakers!!
