Default Canal piggys

Fished the Rarotonga and the canals this weekend with little shuck , no love in the river and 1 of the 3 locks we fished had action. Pulled 2 nice bronzes out drifting killed.

And the mystery question is....Were they from the Raritan or Delaware?

Very nice bass.

I'm sure they reproduce on whatever gravel in the canal, but though smallmouths flow in there from the Delaware, some might get in the canal from the Raritan when the water is really, really high?

Or at least get in there when guys catch them below & hike 'em up the bank.

at least in my experience there's a lack of dink/young smbs in the canal. Every one ive seen was at least 2 lbs. Not surprising to me if they do reproduce in there though. I think it floods more between the millstone and the canal. I suppose a lot of bass make it over to the canal that way. Most likely from the delaware river though.
