With the weather forecast over the next few days and rain forecast for Friday and Saturday I would think any ice that exists is going to either disappear or be very sketchy over the next few days. Be careful if you're considering any ice fishing this weekend or over the next few days. Was at the big lake yesterday and from Dick Dow's you could see the entire lake from that area had ice but there wasn't one drill hole whatsoever and the ice appeared to be maybe one and a half to two inches thick. In 2 to 3 days I would suspect all that ice is gone. Checked a few other lakes in the area with the same scenario, clear smooth ice but only about an inch and a half to 2 in and would suspect by tomorrow with the rain and warmer temperatures in the 40s or high 30s throughout the entire day that these lakes will be completely ice-free by Saturday or Sunday. Looks like next week night time temperatures are going to get colder again and we'll hhave to see what the next couple weeks hold in store temperature wise. This is the time of year to be extra cautious. Your eyes tell you one thing, common sense should tell you something different. Remember as I've said young children from the shoreline will follow your lead and be tempted to go out on the ice if they see others out there. Please keep an eye on your surroundings and make sure a young child doesn't make a fateful mistake.

I've had bad luck casting the Yo Zuri this winter. Several trips resulted in landing one 24" laker, and a follow with a hit but no hook up. Air temperatures have been above normal. In past years I do best when the temps are normally cold or below normal. Also, I do better when the res. is at full pool.

Round Valley never skims over unless under sustained severe cold. Can be a foot of ice to the north and none on the reservoir.
