Opening day report from Waldwick, NJ
Had about an hour and a half to fish this afternoon, so I stayed local. Headed to Whites Pond, put on the waders, and fished just upstream of the pond in the ho ho kus brook. There were quite a few people on the pond trying to catch the broodstock, but I was the only angler fishing the brook. Managed two cookie cutter brookies on a silver phoebe, one 10 inches, one 11 or 12. It was nice to get out on a beautiful afternoon.

Did you see any of those brood stock on stringers?
I fished early and late today. It was cold this morning and the fish were a little lethargic. This evening they had the feed bag on. All cookie cutter brookies. Saw one breeder caught that was sitting in a foot of water. They hit a mix - power bait, worms, phoebes, spinners and magnets. |

Re: Opening day report from Waldwick, NJ
I didn't see any broodstock on stringers. I didn't see anyone else catch anything. I was wading in the brook. Surprisingly the only one around. I walked down by the pond where others were fishing, but saw no stringers or fish being caught.
