South Branch Tuesday Stocking Day
The river was very high but I finally could see my bait in the water. Slow start but at 7:30 pm the trout decided to feed. I caught seven in twenty minutes. Kept three. Lost four more. All rainbows 11-13 inches. All caught on large butterworms. Baby nightcrawlers, powerbait, mealworms didn't work. I'm convinced it's the light yellow color and smell of the butterworm that they like. When you put a hook in them they bleed a white milky substance. That's where the scent comes from.
Much smaller fish this stocking. Better than nothing. |
