Default I-Com radio

Have an ICOM VHF radio on our Grady White. Just recently while on we started losing the channel we were monitoring. The radio stays on, has power, but the screen display goes blank and we start getting a noise almost as if the squelch is set too high. If we hit the unit, the channel will come back so we thought we had a loose connection somewhere. We took the unit off the mount and there are only two wires we can see, one for power ands one for the antenna. Neither seem loose. Not sure if we have a loose connection somewhere, a bad antenna, something wrong with the unit itself but was wondering if anyone else has experienced that type of problem or had suggestions for what might be causing it. It's intermittent which makes it that much harder to diagnose.

Thanks for anyone's help in advance.

Dakota

I would replace in line fuse to start and make new connections to the power source. This would possibly eliminate a low voltage connection. If you can, check voltage at unit.

Sounds more like the radio itself. Hook up to a battery elseweher and antenna and see if it recurs.
