Default With the storm hitting tommorow, is tonight a must-fish?

With this massive storm visiting our lovely state this weekend, and today being the "calm before the storm", shouldnt the conditions be right for some pretty good fishing? I would think these fish would be filling up before heading to deeper/safer waters but then again, I am no expert .

Discussion?

I'm going tomorrow morning. Best fishing occurs (supposedly, although I have a lot of evidence to back it up) when the barometric pressure is falling. This is usually when conditions begin to deteriorate just before a storm or approaching low pressure system. Technically, the best time would be tomorrow afternoon before Irene hits, however, I think the area may be getting hit with another storm before Irene, which makes things a little trickier. I checked the weather for tomorrow morning and the early AM into the early afternoon should give you a window. With the storms approaching and the new moon on Sunday, freshwater fishing COULD be primed for some epic conditions. I'll be out there for sure.

Thanks for the good info catfish...I was debating between a late night walleye/smallie trip to Monksville or an early morning Passaic River pike excursion in the 'yak...might do the morning thing and take your advice on where to target them

Also wanted to commend you for bringing my Friday Work Productivity to an all time low, as I spent a good 45 minutes on your blog today lol. Recommended it to a buddy of mine who is also a big northern NJ fisherman.

Ha ha. Thanks man. Have you seen the Passaic? I was thinking about going there myself tonight, but not sure how the water is. If I make it out there, I'll let you know.

The river has been higher and murkier than it usually is this time of year, but not unfishable. Pretty much the exact opposite of what it looked like this time last year, when it was super low and clear. Hopefully September is a relatively dry month...
