Default Turkey swamp

Was at turkey swamp for a little bit late this morning. No bites. Im going back there later this afternoon when my son gets up from his nap. Anyone have a honey hole you want to divulge?

With all the lilly pads and weeds under water I want to go with topwater. What have you used with success there?

Never fished there, but for lily pads and thick weeds I would give a weedless frog a try. Maybe also try a soft jerk bait where the weeds thin out a bit.

Good luck!

Rammie fished there when my children were small...good results with weedless frogs in the lilies....time of day was not important.....had a 12' Jon boat so we moved all over the place...also good at the rotten trees with topwater

I have had some good fishing to the left of the rental boats.....best time is just after dark....I use night crawlers under a bobber and caught channel cats.

Frogs, poppers, etc.. Bring 2 rods rigged with 2 different kinds of topwaters(that what I do) and experiment. Find out whats working before "prime time"(right as the sun is going down). Good luck and hopefully you'll catch a slob.

Got skunked 2 days in a row there. Tried drop shot senkos, weightless senkos, jig head with a soft plastic crawdad, tried a topwater pop-r. Nothing worked... not even a bite. A lot of fishing pressure at that lake though. Early afternoon on a Wed and there had to be 10+ anglers on the 17 acre lake. I suppose things will improve when the kids are back in school.

Never fished it, was just general advice. Pop Rs are good lures, should have at least got a blowup on one. Seems reports there from this summer have been poor. Maybe one of these days me and my dad will take the boat there and see what's going on. Have heard mixed things so I'll guess I'll just have to check it out.

I will try again. I suppose the times I went there were not ideal. Next time I will rent a boat there and try to get over to some of the center island structure.

Skunked day 3. Got some topwater action after 7pm tonight, but both missed my pop-r. Done with TSP for a while...
