Default Update: Greenwood Lake Public Launch/Access

Happy New Year Everyone! Hope all of you are well and healthy. We are calling out for all of your help. We are asking all of you to shoot an email out to Assemblyman James Kennedy, Chair of the Assembly Environment and Solid Waste Committee regarding A-1047 which requires DEP to provide public access to State-owned lakes; appropriating $1 million.

There is a need to appeal to Asssemblyman James Kennedy, Chair of the Assembly Environment and Solid Waste Committee to call for a vote on this bill in order to move it out of committee and continue in the legislative process.
This bill was approved/advanced in the Senate Environment and Energy Committee chaired by Senator Bob Smith on November 3, 2022.

You could say something like this:

"Assemblyman Kennedy,

I (name), support bill A-1047 which requires DEP to provide public access to State-owned lakes.....with the installment of a Public Boat Launch ramp on Greenwood Lake as a first example. I am hoping that the end result of this process will ensure public access to State owned lakes with a Public Boat Launch Ramp built on the shores of Greenwood Lake as a first example. Over the last 3 years marina owners have been charging upwards of $50+ dollars just to launch a boat on the weekend and that is if they have room on their properties. Greenwood Lake is a public waterbody stocked using license revenues from freshwater license fees that I contributed to when I purchased my fishing license. Many of the marinas on Greenwood are not allowing "day launching" and only allowing paying slip customers to access their boats claiming that because of Covid-19 there has been a surge in demand for access and hence the properties are operating at capacity. Because of this, there is either limited or eliminated public day-use access. This is totally unacceptable as I have spent my money for a fishing license to help stock a lake that we have limited/no access to without having to shell out an arm and a leg just to put our boats in the water! The NJ Freshwater Fishing Digest states, "Fishing is Allowed 24 Hrs/Day on Greenwood Lake". At the present time, that is only if you know someone!

Assemblyman Kennedy, I respectfully am asking you to move A-1047 to a vote to allow it to continue in the legislative process. I hope for a future whereby I may be able to access this public waterbody as well as others Weekdays or Weekends without having to jump through hoops, make arrangements, pay exhorbitant fees, or cross private properties to do so. "

Respectfully,

Your Name
Your Address
Your Email
Your Telephone Number

Of course you can say/write whatever you wish....the above is just an example but emphasis MUST be placed on bold statement above....to move the bill for a vote so that it can come out of committee.

Note to all: Assemblyman Kennedy's office phone number is : 732-943-2660 for those that would like to leave a message.

One this occurs the bill will continue on through the legislative process thus allowing this access issue on Greenwood and other lakes to be resolved with the building of a Public Boat Launch on Greenwood....to start.

Please help us to make this come to fruition....you are all stakeholders......email or call......I even gave an example above/did the work for you.... feel free to use or use your own OR call and push to have A1047 voted on and approved.

Thanks to all of you.

We will keep you posted. Tight lines in the New Year!

UFANJ

Done. If you use the link posted in the replay, an email form comes up. Simple.
