I've always felt the The Big D is the toughest nut to crack in our state since there are so many factors involved and it so specialized. This was one of my favorite episodes so far because of all the insight Tim gave us.

Keep up the great work guys!

Was a good episode .
Seems Chris is getting all the shad guys together to break his unicorn lol.
If he has Eric or Rusty on soon it will confirm it

Catching shad from the boat is awesome and a lot of fun . But IMO wade fishing is even more fun .

Especially when your around copper .
.

Nj may suck in many ways , but the fishing we have throughout the state rivals or exceeds just about anywhere .
.

Most underutilized water in the state . Also why it’s so good .

And definitely one of the most scenic, especially around the Water Gap. Eagles all over the place and plenty of ramps and car top launch areas https://dep.nj.gov/wp-content/upload...ccess-2023.pdf

A word of caution.... You need to be careful when running the river! Lots of rapids where you can easily flip over even on the nicest of days. It can run very fast and high after a good rain storm and that could be a storm that had taken place way upstream days before.

For this reason, you definitely want to have a buddy boat, even if you're familiar with the area. Just ask FastEddie29 why

Great episode!! The big D!! I’ve been practically living on that river since I moved out west 5 years ago. So many different stretches to fish and learn. A true beauty of a fishery! So many opportunities to catch so many great species. You’ll be surprised what you can find on the end of your line some days. It does come with a caveat and that is it can be a dangerous place at times. If you want to really learn a stretch observe it in low water periods. Lots of hidden rocks waiting to ruin your trip. The danger is what keeps it so under utilized I feel.

Other fisherman also do some things that you also need to keep an eye out for .
Seen guys who couldn’t anchor in a spot drop a portion of an engine block where channel was less than 2’ deep , short piece of rope left in place .

Others couldn’t get their anchor out so cut the line at the waterline .
Other boats get it in their prop and get pulled under in an instant .

Whole trees screaming down river in high water conditions .

Definitely can be an unforgiving place .

Hold on a second I didn't go ask Tim and Dave to come talk about shad haha. We just provide a vessel. Guys can talk about anything they want and (I feel like I can't say this enough) anyone who wants to come on and talk about anything fishing or even hunting is more than welcome. Tim and Dave are awesome and always welcome on. Shad from shore didn't really do it for me the handful of times I went even though it was decently successful. From the boat always seemed more appealing to me but I never tried it.
