Interesting chart, AndyS, tho it's dated (2003) and doesn't show Birdman's recommended Reservoir X!

Birdman has apparently been up too late once again catching eyes & is mistaken. No fish yanda except for sunnies & stockedbows.

There are Bass everywhere in this state, they are not too difficult to find. As for the "best" one, I prefer the bodies of water that don't get hammered every day. Hackensack River has produced the biggest Largemouth for me, followed by Lake Lenape and Pompton Lake(gets hammered).

Curious why they list Dundee Lake as no cartop launch, no motors.

So true...MUSKY do the lakes a service by culling out the weak/diseased fish & only enhance the possibility of catching a true trophy sized bass. You would shocked to what MUSKY are eating most of the time...really small stuff for the bulk of their diet. But they oppurtunists & at times will eat whatever they can fit in their mouths-ducks, muskrats, small children...

IF THIS STATE WANTS TO INCREASE trophy SIZED FISH then we need to set slot limits & enforce it.

One dimensional bass fishing probably isn't the best way to find the best bass lake in NJ..Especially if its just top water fishing..As summer heat increases water temp..And boater an other fisher man hit the lakes..I've found best results in newark watershed reservoirs,,Also Shepard lake deep fishing, same on greenwood lake..Smallies have come back there..Top wayer only with warm weather on us..I's suggest Hit the bigger lakes and make nite fishing with top waters your priority..

Been following this site for quite some time. Finally registered, so that I can start contributing.....
Have to say that there is some incredible Bass fishing in Northern NJ. While I can't annoint any one single body of water, I can say that there are soooo many small lakes/ponds that really hold some trophy fish. Next time that you pass one of those tiny places that you'd never think of fishing, do yourself a favor and give it a shot. You'd really be surprised at what lies beneath.
Here's a few photos taken of me and my son over the past two years
