Best Pliers?
What are the best saltwater pliers? For offshore fishing would you prefer to have a split ring feature or have separate split ring pliers (for swapping out jigs)?
Not looking to spend big $$ just best bang for the buck that will last. Also, cutting braid and mono/fluro is a MUST.

Re: Best Pliers?
I've gone through a ton of pliers and love the Shimano ones I just bought. They're not titanium like some of pricey stuff, but at $50 the're solid with a split-ring and a very good braid cutter.

Re: Best Pliers?
Or, you could get some advise and purchase a pair from one of our local and knowledgeable sponsor bait and tackle shops.

Re: Best Pliers?
I could except none of them have provided any info thus far. I love supporting local businesses especially sponsors but the info on this site is extremely valuable from people who are actually using the products regularly.

Re: Best Pliers?
Manley for ruggedness, serious pressure, and cutting wire and mono. Not as well suited for cutting braid, and they make no effort to be a combination tool.

Re: Best Pliers?
Thanks Mike. I'm really looking for something capable of cutting both braid and mono as I tend to use braid a LOT.

I never found one for both braid n mono that worked equally well on both . That's my expierance , Manleys best fo most applications , likewise X tools or good scissors from braid !

Re: Best Pliers?
I got the Cuda's, bit on the pricey side, don't try to cut a hook with them but no problems with. Mono or braid and they have a blunt nose with plent of torque to get the hook out. I got mine at the Reel Seat in Brielle and he carries the replacement carbide cutting points,if your like me, and try to cut a wire hook out of your thumb and they shatter(use dikes for that!) otherwise great pliers!! The needle nose seem to tweek too much to get the balls in to remove some jawbone hooked fishes, just my $.02
