You are correct! Besides the sportsmen who are waiting to test their skills against the freshly stocked fish, the eagles and herons and cormorants and mergansers are already making dinner reservations for this fall’s trout. The guys who are looking to fill their chain stringers are sharpening the trebles on their weighted lures and working on perfecting their smiles for the camera. Just sayin’!

Somehow a few of these rainbows will dodge the treble hook snaggers and avoid deeply ingested Power Bait coated bait holder hooks and be able to survive the initial onslaught right after being stocked.

When the rivers are low, slow and clear like they are now, the trout have very few places to hide. Even after a few days, unless it rains substantially, the fish are going to be right where they were put. I'm sure anyone's eyes would bulge out if they looked into the water from the bridge and saw fish stacked up like this.
