Bass,

When you hauled it did you drain the line. Is it possible you had water in the line which froze up?

Try a small wire up the pee hole while running. Quickly! Don't block the flow for long. Just enough to check for a blockage. Sand is a big culprit with this issue or calcified salt can build up too. My thermostats were white at the end of last year.

Good luck.

The Poppit Valve is a very common issue with outboards. Like a thermostat, it regulates the water flow coming out the pisser to keep the engine at the proper running temps. It closes and restricts water if the engine is too cold or opens up when the engine gets hot. It could cause the issue you are having if it's clogged and could make your engine run hot as well....

A typical symptom of a bad Poppit Valve is the engine running hot at lower RPMs and fine at higher RPMS

I would check and clear the lines first as mentioned above and if that does not resolve your issue I would look at the Poppit Valve.

thanks guys , was checking to see if maybe something i didn't think of , but all of you came to same conculsions i did , when running i did try a small wire through the pee hole....didn't see nothing or feel anything ...no help on water flow , i did pull the thermostats and they looked good. but replaced with new as i figured it was time anyway ....the poppet valve i had parts on order to rebuild that , which just came in yestarday ...that will be getting done tomorrow , i haven't started since the thermos have been put it , i figured ill replace the poppet and then check it , it was over heating thus causing the alarm to sound be cause it wasn't getting enough water !!

with all this being said , the only other thing i was wondering the connector piece from the copper water pipe to the water impellar housing has o rings in there how much of a big deal is it if those are not seated properly , i mean i should just replace but just wondering if it make a big deal losing water pressure!

Look ok to me. Right back in!

To be honest mine probably looks exactly the same way. I didn't change mine last year and can't find the chapter in the Seloc manual. Nothing on youtube either that covers my engine (1993 yamaha 200hp). Will keep digging.

Hope the valve replacement does the trick!

Try the wire first. Had a Suski that always had to be poked.

This is what I found this weekend when finishing the impeller... Time to pull the powerhead: the copper water tube going through the shaft wasn't sealed all that well and wore a hole through it... $27 part-
