Default Raritan smb mini-blitz

Fished saturday with a raritan-bud and caught 1 smb. First raritan smb of the year, and a chunky one too.

Figured there would still be some sort of a bite for SMB after work today, so tried a bit more downstream where I did well last year for early smb.

Was slow other than snagging two quilback.

Then hooked a slob fat pickerel that I decided to flip onto the logs I was standing on.
Like a Bassmaster Elite Series Angler, but a Pro Angler wouldnt land it between the gap of the two logs, nor use 6lb test to haul up a chunky pickerel
big oof moment. lost it

Casting out into the river, off of the log where I hooked the chain pickerel, would be 4 back to back hits, three of which I landed were smb.
And then no action after that.

all on wire leader + 1.8 oz jig with a 4-5 inch paddle tail in green.

Great job! The Raritan can be tough at times but when she cooperates its worth the work.
Got out early this morning and fished hard with not even a hit . So to avoid the skunk I went to the canal and caught two small pickerel .
Quailbacks ....you never know what the Raritan will give up !

I hear they eat like carp, fish between fish ladder and queens bridge. Youll probably end up catching a few 20 lb carp first tho, lol

I think theyre all over the river but i know theres lots down in that stretch.
