Default Salt Away

The marina pulled my boat yesterday the docks have started to come out and my section is first . I used a product for the first time called Salt Away and it did a great job. I washed down everything the fiberglass, the windows and ran it through the motor block before winterizing it. The salt was totally removed from everything and the hull looked spotless, Next season I will use it daily prior to scrubbing the boat.

Has anyone else tried this product?

Never used it before but by the sounds of it, I'd like to give it a shot. Probably help in cleaning out my heat exchanger.

How did you run it through the block?

I use it before winterizing the engines. It comes with a adaptor you hook up between the hose and earmuffs. Certainly cannot hurt using it... salt eats away at everything.

Fairly popular stuff.

Baasically small amount of detergent mixed with vinegar (which is what removes the salt).

I may start to use next season to flush my outboard.

Have not used before myself, but have heard a lot of good stuff about it.

Duffman
I have the straight inboard 496 so I took off my intake hose and made a mixture up in a few 5 gallon buckets and sucked it right through the system, then flushed it out good and winterized.

I've seen the stuff for sometime but 1st time trying it, won't be the last

Can't hurt.

I think bigger issue for outboards then flushing the saltwater is the buildup of minerals if using the same water source to always flush engine, but who knows. I will give the saltaway a shot next season.
