Default New Home, New Spots

Moved up to Sussex county last week and been busy as hell moving everything ourselves. We also just got a puppy, so that's added to the craziness! But things are starting to settle and yesterday was the first time I was able to explore some new spots in the area. Decided to do some multi species fishing and focus on public ponds and creeks within 20 minutes of me. I was looking for a new species too but came up short on that end.

First hit a small river that gets stocked with trout. Water levels were low for sure but the redbreasts didn't mind, caught over 10 in a short stretch but that's all that seemed to be around in these holes.

Moved on to a public pond, talked to a guy who said he caught a 4 pounder earlier in the morning. I fished around, lost a decent largie and landed one dinker. Interesting park pond, seems to be pretty pressured but it's the closest spot to me so ill be visiting it again for sure.

Hit one other creek that get's stocked, but man idk how. Water levels were extremely low, but even at their peak it I'm not sure where they could go. Water was crystal clear, reminded me of a smaller and more shallow brookie stream i have fished in the past. Caught some creek chub and oddly a bluegill out of there, so hey maybe the trout can survive somewhere!

Fished from 7:15 til noon and walked 4 miles with 4 species and over 20 fish. Nothing of size, but a great day regardless!

Thumbs up Re: New Home, New Spots

Have fun up there man! You’ll find some fish for sure. And being up that way hiking in those woods you will eventually run into Black Bears. Have fun and keep hiking.
