Thumbs up Round Valley trout stocking March 26th:

The R.V.T.A. is having it's annual trout stocking at the reservoir, this Sunday March 26th at 9 am. Everyone is welcome, so come out and join the excitement! You will see some beautiful fish to be released. This year to make it even more exciting the R.V.T.A stocking committee has decided to go for the GOLD this year. On Sunday around 100 golden rainbow trout will be released. If you have never seen one of these goldens, they are beautiful. Along with the goldens roughly 200 browns and around 50 mixed larger trout will go in. As always, this is kid friendly so bring them down to see some of these great fish! Hope to see you there.

I was planning to fish there this Sunday.
So with the stocking is this area closed to fishing on that day?

Correct, however since trout season is closed any trout caught must be 'immediately' released. That means no pausing for hero shots, just unhooked and back in the water.

that is incorrect. rainbows and browns are never closed at RVR. iit is a trophy trout lake; for rainbows and browns the size limit is 15" and the bag limit is 2 trout per day, any day of the year. see page 22 of the 2017 freshwater digest or http://www.njfishandwildlife.com/pdf/2017/trtregs17.pdf

the no hero shots suggestion is good advice however, on the other bodies of water that are open to fishing during the trout stocking period but aren't trophy trout lakes. places like lake hopatcong, swartswood, etc.

Makes no sense to me that Trout can be taken at Merrill and Rvr and all the rest of the waters are C+R. Guess if you are caught with Trout in your cooler just say you caught them at RVR or Merrill

My apologies for posting the incorrect info! I had forgotten RVR was a Trophy lake. Thanks for posting the correct info.
