Default Help Me Be Lazy (Jig Related)

There is NO WAY I'm going to have time to tie 20 jigs in the next 3 days. Well maybe there is, but I'm interested in trying those "octopus" skirts I heard about the last couple seasons. Only problem is I have no idea where to get them. Is it something a big box outdoor store would carry and I just don't know the name? I checked the massive online jig tying store and I think I see it but I'm not sure. If you know a sponsor that I can grab them from on my way to the Highlands then tell me, otherwise I guess PM me the info. I'd be ever so grateful. Otherwise I'm going to have a late night tying bucktail to jigs on Friday and Saturday I guess.

Russ probably too late unless you rush ship, Cabela's or Bass Pro shops on line both have Squid skirts

Thanks guys, Richie Tropics hooked me up this morning. I met him over by Sam the Sinker Mans place. Worked out very well. Now I have something to play with. Well in 12 hours when the polyurethane dries...

All done... I think these came out pretty good considering I did them in 36 hours. Poly still isn't fully cured yet and I gotta put eyes on them. Thanks to Sam the Sinker man for the fast turn around on the weights and to Richie Tropics for meeting me up with me so I could try the squid skirts. I like Bucktail Hair better I think, but this is definitely a LOT faster and probably just as good.

I do admire the guys that do this stuff for a living. I find it fun to make maybe 15 or 20 of these for a trip out with my friends. But if I had to do 100's it would very quickly cease being fun. Plus their finishes are a LOT more professional. I don't do my own powder coating here. So I work with lacquers and Rustoleum. Powder would be so much nicer. Maybe one day I'll learn how.

I've made Jigs before Richie. That chrome plated one I showed you today? I made a dozen of those a couple years ago. And I probably did another dozen in various colors with bucktail hair. I'm no pro by any means, but I think I do "okay" for an amateur. It's funny 2 years ago I went fluke fishing close to a dozen times during the summer. Last year.. 0. This year I'm on my first trip Sunday let's see if I can squeeze a few more in!

I just tied up a bunch of rigs for the bait draggers. I hope they at least TRY jigging, but just in case I had extra leader and hooks so I made some cool double hook fluke Rigs with a lighter leader for a sinker hook on a 3-way swivel so when they inevitably hang up they don't lose the entire rig.

And remember how I told you I had trouble with the dropper loop? Well 6 slip knots and 2 cut fingers later I can safely say I once again am a master of it. Till I forget how again.
