So sad but inevitable
I work in a Giant super market( Stop 'n Shop in Jersey) & always thank anyone wearing any evidence of military service. Always had too-short conversations with 4 WW11 vets. Boy did they have some facts, stories one never heard about nor admitted to by our gov't or military. Sadly, I haven't seen any of them for a few months. One told me less than 10% of vets remain. I'm afraid that percentage has decreased & in a too-short time, it will be 0%. Damn it, so many made the supreme sacrifice so that OLD GLORY still waves over this nation and the majority only know it as another 3 day weekend. It really pisses me off and at the same time greatly saddens me.
God bless all who have given their all and NEVER FORGET what they gave so that we still salute the STARS AND STRIPES...

Re: So sad but inevitable
Those of the greatest generation will go to their final resting places knowing they defeated the two gravest threats our country faced on the battlefield.

Re: So sad but inevitable
I lost my Uncle last year. He was 95 and served in the navy in the Pacific theater. He was very active for years with his other navy buddies he served with. They would get together and travel to battle sites they fought in the pacific. He was a landing craft captain for the beach landings. He was honored last year and bury at Arlington with full military honors.
R.I.P. Joe Kramer.
