Lightbulb Split Rock Res.10/22 -slowwww......

The water had a heavy stain to it, combine that with gusty and changing winds Wilson and I had our work cut out for us. Total was 2 crappie, 1 yellow perch and 1 small bass, not for the lack of bait or trying.
Took it on the chin today. Days to take the boat out are fading fast, I'm hoping for a few good days in November to jig some walleye deep on Lake Hopatcong, then put the boat away for the winter.
We walked around the parking lot at Split Rock before we left and picked up what little trash we could find, a few smashed soda cans and stuff like that, for the most part the area was pretty clean.

Thanks for the report. Its been a couple months since I've been up there...but want to get up there at least 1 more time before winter shows its ugly face.

Did you guys try for Smallies? Fish shallow or deep? Anything from the fishfinder?

I am not surprised... It started getting very tough around the third week of October last year also. At least you caught something, I had a couple full skunks to finish off the '10 season.

Thanks for the report Andy. October has been tough. We had a tough time on Pompton last week. I'm still hopeful there's a few nice fish to be caught this fall, hopefully a musky..

i know that big rock face in the 3rd picture, where your boat was is usually a very good crappie area...
