Caught three brookies, lost four, on butterworms in 45 minutes. Water is very high, cold and discolored.
I purchase my butterworms from a friend who sends large ones only to fishermen. He sends the smaller ones to reptile owners. Trout love them. They're great for ice fishing too.
Mention Cuz and NJFishing.com and he'll put some extras in your order for no charge. Elliotsbutterworms.com He's a real gentleman to do business with. He actually calls me to see how the fishing is going with his bait. Pretty shocking but nice.

I like butterworms too, especially for Rainbow Trout. But lately I've been cheap...Those worms are $$$.
