Default Post Your Biggest Fish of 2017!

.

Can you believe it's already December?!?! Time to reminisce about memorable fish we caught this year. I know many of you are still fishing, so this is a 'living thread' that can be bumped anytime until midnight Dec. 31.

This is a fish picture thread and the posters are under no obligation to disclose the where and how of what they caught. They'll disclose what they're comfortable sharing. I'll ask the readers not to pester the posters with questions.

I guess I'll go first since I started the thread.

My biggest Smallmouth Bass this year is this 20.5 inch specimen I caught out of my kayak at a well-known reservoir.

Judging from the length-weight-age charts, this bass weighed about 4.5 pounds and was about 13 years old.

I never submitted these pictures for a Skillful angler award because I messed up the measurement shot. Neither the fish, nor the tape measure was straight and flat and the phone cover was wet, making the picture too blurry to distinguish the numbers. My main priority when taking the photos was to get the exhausted bass back into the water as soon as possible. Besides, I know some people on this forum have caught bigger smallies, so it wouldn't be a winner for the year anyway.

I haven't posted my face on this forum in a long time. If anyone find it disturbing or if it scares your children and pets, I can take the photo down.

Biggest overall:

89" 160+lb wels catfish from Spain

Largest New Jersey freshwater:

Monster pike

Largest Saltwater:

60+lb cobia

Biggest "Local" Wild Brown Trout:

Browns are one of my favorite fish, and this one was particularly special. This is the largest brown I caught locally (within an hour of my house). I caught it on 4lb test and didnt get an accurate measure, but it was definitely over 20".
