Default Building A Lobster Style Boat

I have always loved the Beal and Lowell style lobster boats. I am thinking about ordering some plans and building this style boat. Just wondering if anyone has ever built their own boat? Where did you get the plans? How long did it take?

Thanks

Love those hulls as well...Not sure you are going to find anyone in these parts that has built them. Oldsons in Keyport and Zubacks in Morgan are the only builders I can recall but they stopped building back in the late 60 or early 7Os and the were really not considered by most to be down east style builders.

Most of these sorts of boats are built up in Maine. It's also not unusual to have several companies involved in the build. One company builds the hull, another supplies the power train and fits it and yet another to do the finish work in the cabin and helm area.

From what I understand it's a lengthy but rewarding process.
