Default a weekend on the rock

I went to splitrock res this weekend to see if the crappies wanted to play and man did i have to work to find them. I started out on sat and went to the narrows a place were i always find them and nothing but 2 slime darts and 1 perch went back to the main part and found some crappies at another spot that i find them at i got two 12" crappies and one 14" smallmouth bass moved a bit farther down the shore and got 3 more crappies just before dark then said to myself that i have to come back in the morning where i left them. Day 2 i go to the place that i got them the nite before and only got one 14" crappie moved around a bit and got one other one about the same size i then started to get nervous and said time to go to my old faithful spot and thank god i found them there. I hooked into some of the best crappies that i have gotten so far this season, one at 15 3/4" and the other at 15 1/4" and very black too, these fish are the darkest fish i have caught so far this season. I also caught a 15 1/2" smallmouth there and three more decent sized crappies and called it the day at 4:15pm. the rock is at full pool and gin clear there was a few people enjoying the day and the parking lot was some what trash free i hope it stays that way. It was good to get back to some of my old stomping grounds again i have a lot of good memories of that place.

Alex some big girls there! Nice job! This crazy weather has the crappie spawn kinda erratic this year. A month ago looked like everything was in full gear until we started getting frost warnings every night. Some spots were on fire and then they shut down and there's been no consistent or predictable pattern since.

Crazy weather is keeping fishing interesting this spring. Hot bites here and there with lots of struggles. Way to find em BROSKI! That place has lots of them for sure.
