This past weekend I took the trek north to stay with Nick for a weekend of fishing. Luke drove up too, and we both had Friday off so we got started early in the morning looking for some steelhead. Needless to say it didn't take long and all of us landed nice steelhead pretty quickly. It was my first time using a fly setup and I had an absolute blast with it! We fished hard for 12 hours straight and everyone went home with tired arms. I went 8 for probably 30 hookups, with the boys having similar numbers as well. Tons of suckers around as well, my first time catching one, and they were good fun between the windows the steelhead were biting in.

The next day we hit the steelhead again with more good results until the bite died off later in the day. We called an audible and decided that it would be fun to take Nick's new boat out for it's maiden voyage. Took it to a nearby lake and got started casting around. I caught a few small pickerel on a kastmaster, and we saw what can only be described as a gargantuan pike right near the boat. Wish we could have caught that one! Shortly after I hooked up with something huge and we started chasing it all around the lake. Turned out to be a massive carp, again my first ever somehow, that weighed out to be 30lbs. Absolute CHUNK.

Thanks again to Nick and Luke for making this trip so much fun, cannot wait to get back up there. Tight lines!

What an awesome trip! Fish look in great shape after wintering in the tributaries. That second picture looks more like an Atlantic than a steelhead.

That's a slammer walleye. Was the big girl over 30"? What a beauty, congrats on an overall great trip. You see pictures like this of nature and the fishing available in this and nearby states and you just wonder how anybody doesn't like fishing and the great outdoors.
