Thumbs up Salty Saturday, sweet water Sunday! 12/12-13

Got an invite to fish on the Monger this Saturday and jumped on the offer. When it comes to saltwater fishing in NJ you want to be on this boat. Very professional, always making moves to find fish and highly respected throughout the fishing community. I have to thank Steve for the invite! You are the man! We left the inlet at zero dark thirty and headed south. The Blackfish reports haven’t been stellar recently so the Cap’n took us to an area where some fish were being caught. It was a slow pick with keepers and shorts. I had some nice Tog to 6ish lbs. You had to stay at the rail fishing to put some kinda catch together. It was a strange bite with some fish just scratching at the bait and others completely slamming the crab. We didn’t limit out the boat but we sure did have a great time trying. Some funny stuff happens on these trips. I highly recommend you get out there for these fish if you have the opportunity fellaz!
P.S Cap’n Jerry pulled 4 keepers through his window up to 11 lbs. The dude is a beast! Definitely a NJ legend!

Sunday Troutin’! Wanted to do the Walleye thing but was kinda tired from yesterday’s trip. Woke up late and hit the Trout waters but didn’t run into much. Musky was high and dirty. Pequest was void of life every spot I checked. Hit the South Branch in a few areas and finally found a funny looking Brown and 2 Rainbows. The action wasn’t what I though it would be on this beautiful Sunday Funday so I cut the trip short and headed home. Beautiful weekend to be on the water, out and about. TIGHT LINEZ!!!

That looks like a Tiger Trout? Sometimes they look like Brown Trout. From what I know the spots on Browns do not run together like that. Hatchery Tigers are more likely to look like Browns and wild Tigers look more like Brookies. To cross breed the Brown must be female and the Brookie male. Nice catch anyway and great report

Way to go! That’s an awesome looking Tiger! You pulled together a decent catch With a tough bite.

I fished the sbr in long valley Saturday morning. The bite was tough, I couldn’t hook anything. Missed 3 around daybreak. Went over to Clinton Falls and turned 1 on my last cast after standing in the cold water for 2 hours. No one in long valley and only 1 fly guy at Clinton.
