Default Pine Barren Slabs

I fished my spot in the pines today. Got 3 nice black crappie and 2 small pickerel.

I used a jig with gulp. It works better in the river. Weeds were a problem all day.

Its that cedar water of the pines. My spot is so dark it changes the color of the fish.

Cool...The tannic acid in the water really changes the fish colors

Back in my RI days I would catch bass that were almost entirely black out of the pine forest ponds.....

Speaking of slabs, these guys are originally from NJ but are now based in Arkansas: https://www.facebook.com/roperoutdoorsfishing/

I saw them this past Saturday @ the Trenton, NJ Kids’ Fishing Derby, to which, they donated some nice prizes.

Recently, they have been fishing NJ waters for slabs with their nice ride & super long poles.

Honestly Andy most SJ lake have been ruined by a certain brigade with buckets. You have to find hidden waters to catch anything good.
