Default Monksville Reservoir Report

Went to Monksville today for about an hour and a half.
Reservoir at full pool, went to the North boat launch, fished right there with a 4” jointed black / silver jointed Rapala, nothing.

Hiked a little from there on the Western side on the trail, fished 3-4 spots, nothing.

Saw 1 guy launch his boat, was trolling on the other side from where I was, didn’t see anything pulled up.

Drove past the South launch, no boats on that side, saw no one fishing.

One piece of bad news, the tackle shop on the way up there ( was Frank’s, was Wanaque Bait & Tackle ) is now out of business. Drove by, looked in the doors and everything is gone….

Another one bites the dust.

Heading up to Pulaski NY next week for chrome, report coming when I return, hopefully with some nice pictures.

Spring is a coming, soon, soon, soon….!

I would make some inquiries with a local or someone that knows the ins and outs up there before heading north... We are going to get blasted again with snow this week across NY state, possible 16 inches by tomorrow night is forecast.
Then 2 weeks of rain and snow almost daily with very few breaks... bob

That's rough. Frank's was a nice outfit. It's an extremely tough business to keep afloat these days, especially with the lack of ice this year. That's a significant winter revenue stream. Gotta be detrimental to the bottom line.

Nothing comes easy at Monks. That’s a fact. Took me lots of time to find some kinda pattern on the fish there. I can tell you they trend deeper then any bodies of water I fish.

Shocked to hear Tackle and Field closed. It was one of the better stocked stores , had everything. I just tried calling to confirm and the number is disconnected Its sad to see these businesses closing more and more. Last year Bait and Boat, this year Tackle and Field, not many remain open.

Sorry to hear the owner passed, I guess there was no interest in taking over an established business. There are not many shops left open in N.J. not going to be able to get bait or pick up any tackle soon.
We all are going to have to order on line or hope Walmart has it, sad situation.
