Talking First Iced Pikes! 1/9/22

Scouting mission gone wrong. Checked the ice on Friday and Saturday to see how it was forming. There is ice out there but it wasn’t much as of Sunday. Ran into a familiar face while checking things out. He had the bait I needed and I had a few hours to spare. Set up 3 tip ups in a very small safe area. The surrounding area was only 1.5 inches. So we basically fished an area 20 yards wide by 50 yards long. Very strange! Got 4 flags, landed 4 Pike. Walked off the ice at noon happy that I was able to scratch the itch!!! Pics! FLAGGGGGGG!!!

Check out the winter rainbow in the first pic. Kinda awesome!

P.S. DO NOT VENTURE OUT ON FIRST ICE ALONE! MAKE SURE YOU SPUD AND HAVE ALL THE PROPER SAFETY GEAR!

Nice toothy fish eddie that place should be loaded with people this weekend. the main parts of the big waters just locked up wednesday they still need a bit more time to thicken up you can see where the older ice over the shallow water formed first then the deeper water just got a 2" skim coat lets hope the snow does not come to early and cover that up. the night temps look good for growing some hardwater for the weekend LET THE MADNESS BEGIN. stay safe and check all ice with a spud first. also DO NOT GO OUT WITHOUT ANY PICKS ON YOU.
