Default Sea bass newbie

I’m thinking about heading out on a 18 hr sea bass trip and I’ve never done it before’,so I’m looking for some input on what to bring,
I was thinking about bringing a black hole 731m paired with a shimano trinidad 12a spooled with 30lb braid not sure if that’ll be enough.
Is 40lb leader enough or shout go with 60lb?
I tie my own rigs but I have an assortment of 5,7,9 oz silver mackerel jigs,
8,10,12 hammered jigs
Any help would be greatly appreciated

It’s on the light side for bait but it’ll work. With the current, you generally fish 16-20oz of lead. Not familiar with the med black hole but I fish the heavy.

While you’ll have no issues catching fish using light line, it’s more common to use 50-65 so you can bust out of the wreck when hung up. There’s a lots of old line down there and the heavier line gives you a chance to break it while keeping your rig. I tie my rigs with 50 for that purpose, but the fish won’t be biting through 40.
When they are on the jig, it’s my favorite way to catch them. Your outfit sounds similar to my jig setup

Thanks for the advise ,
I’ve had 12 oz on the med but no way would it handle 20oz.
Guess it’s time to buy the heavy
