Hit Clark's Pond this morning. Got on the water at 5:30 pm. It was a graveyard out there
. Very few swirls, basically it was DEAD. We got off the lake at 6:30 am with not even a blowup. We headed over to Sheperds Mills against better judgement knowing these fish are going to wise up.
Got on Sheperds Mills at 7:00 am. We had poor conditions(sun, heat, and towards the end, wind). We had poor fishing by Sheperds Mills standards. At 10:00 am we left the lake. We caught 8 bass and 1 pickeral. 9 fish in 3 hours. Big fish was a 2 lb. bass. All on topwaters. Most fish were in the slop along the back shoreline. Even worse we messed up the motor
.We had to paddle back to the dock cutting the trip a half hour short. Tough day.
Overall, it was a dissapointing morning. It wasn't terrible fishing but was hoping for more. Kind of ironic how I write an article on topwater fishing and put it the Fishing Tips section, then the next time I go fishing I do poorly topwater fishing
. If we can fix the motor, we will be fishing Stone Tavern tommorow morning.
