Was at Merrill last on July 24th in balmy heat from 7:30am-4pm...fish were caught in 15-25 feet on 8xd and 6xd crankbaits and dropshotting my buddy and I had our best 5 go for 18.65lbs. We lost a nice 4lb plus smallie at the boat. Trust me we weren't in a Nitro with expensive electronics like some of the dudes there. I mean I would take a Nitro if it was offered to me but I feel like there is better bass boats out there haha.

Another way to catch them out the deep is the ole ball and chain Carolina Rig.

By one dam in a sandy break in the weeds where it dropped fast we sighted a wolfpack of smallies just hanging by the sand break.
