I trade blackfish to my local chinese restaurant and they give me back general tsao style blackfish, lo mein, and other stuff. They keep some to themselves. I have no clue what they do with it. Does that make me some sort of illegal trader as well? The people who run the restaurant can arguably be called my friends because I go there all the time.

I'm against most commercial fishing as well, specifically dragging. Trading extra fish for food or dry cleaning or whatever hardly equates to destroying vast portions of the ocean floor by dragging a net across it.

(Not saying you are the type of commercial fisherman who does that BTW, I don't know you) Some commercial fisherman are very respectful of the ocean in fact and I admire them. But a few rancid apples can definately spoil a bushel.

Great Trip guys. Anyone who legally catches fish has the right to do give them to anyone they want. Nice catch and remember it is about the catch not the keep.

and nobody speeds and every dollar in tips we make gets declared.

There are bigger battles to fight. Enjoy your General Tso's - you don't need to justify anything.

How about a new Law and Order "Illegal Fish Swapping Unit"

If someone keeps their catch and it's within the bag limits, they can barter for goods or services and not be breaking the law. It's when the bag limits or fish sizes or seasons are not adhered to that the law is being broken. What is wrong with giving someone say 15 flounder fillets and getting some food in return?

Getting a bit testy over next to nothing on this topic the way I see it.

If you adhere to all to the rules you're allowed to whatever you want with a legally caught fish.

Would you rather he kept all his fish and stored then in the back of his freezer for a year, have them become freezer burned then throw them out.....now that would be a waste of the resource.

LAB, what boat does this guy mate on (you can PM if you don't want to make it public)? If it's a boat that I fish on (and I think it might be) I might just boycott it as well.
