If the water is warm and the fight/unhooking/pics take too long they will sometimes die. Best bet is to propel them downward.

You probably ate a fairly fresh stocked one, they are nasty like stocked trout. Once they eat a natural diet for a time, they are good, like wild trout.

They tasted clean and simple. Was kinda expecting a pinker flesh with a typical "salmon" flavor. It really wasnt any different than clean tasty trout.
