Default Ever Been Sad About a Boat Purchase

I have had my '92 Robalo 2520 Center Console for 6 years and love it even though it is old and not pristine, I put a lot of sweat and $$ into it. So last time I was out with the wife she made comments because it is a strictly fishing machine and not good for swimming, toilet use (bucket), and no cover from elements.
My marina had a Pro-Line cuddy come in that satisfied all of her needs but encroached on some of mine (tackle/rod storage and deck space) and no way I was paying retail for it. So I went ahead and bought it and I worked the deal because the salesperson could tell I would not be easy to get $$ out of lol. They begrudgingly accepted my offer after trying to get more out of me. They should have never told me the boat was coming in on trade once they had a buyer (me) so the guy could buy a new boat lol.
So I should be happy to buy it just over $10,000 behind book value but it also means I have to sell my Robalo. Now I need to finish wiring the t-top lights I installed and list it, will be a tough day. Happy wife.....

Very true.. And if your wife really does go out with you often then it's worth making her happy... I do however know a lot of guys who bought the a boat that pleases the wife and family and they hardly ever go out with you...

Damned if you do and Damned of you don't.

Depends on what your definition of book value is. Nada Guide gives you a very very broad idea, but being a broker for several years I can tell you I made a great living on those thinking they got a great deal. Kelly Blue Book for cars just makes people feel good about what they are paying for a car, but it is no where close to BOOK value!!!! Now selling a used boat is a big difference and I have gotten every penny, even from commercial boats on this site that were smiling ear to ear when they got their asking price.

Been in auto sales business since 1988 so I know the book value game. Looked around and same boats were selling for about $2,000 behind listed book value so confident my deal is good.
