Oasis, you really opened a big can of worms
If it was "catchin'", just think how many fish wouldn't be out there!!! But then, you wouldn't have to worry about not catching any fish 'cause they'd all be on the endangered species list so you couldn't fish for 'em anyway!!!! just like portions of the West Coast, thanks to the tree huggers.....

Well...some guys golf, some guys play chess, some guys even go fishing in lakes and streams! To each his own. For me however...my absolute favorite thing in the world to do is canyon tuna fish on the Gambler. Catching fish is a just a bonus to an always memorable annual reunion with a unique group of friends and a captain and crew that love their jobs. I've too had trips years ago that I couldn't wait too return from but I'm SOOO glad I tried again. Moral of the story...maybe it's not for you OR maybe you just haven't found where you fit in yet.

I love fishing as much as anybody and certainly spend my share of money on party boats but I agree tuna isn't worth the money/risk in my opinion. Both times I went offshore the winds and waves were kicking and it wasn't a fun experience whatsoever, yet alone for hundreds of dollars. I'll stick to inshore fishing.

I'm no stranger to skunks or bad trips, I just don't think it's worth the money. I'll be back out there for sure, but going offshore isn't a common occurrence for me.

I would go with Andy and BC, the experience can be more than the catching.
