It's definitely not a hybrid. It's a pike with unique markings. I see a lot of odd, variable markings on smaller pike. Here is one from the Passaic with similar markings.

Hmmm...when looking up pike pickerel hybrids online they look similar to the fish that I caught. And I've caught many 15-25 inch pike that looked like normal pike. Fish are weird lmao

nah i'm standing behind the pike pickerel hybrid...the dark vertical band on the eye says pickerel all the way, pike don't have that dark band right...it's either a pickerel with weird marks or a pike/pickerel hybrid...it has some pickerel in it if you ask me. it's probably a mutant from that toxic waste dump haha.

and btw it is no doubt the same fish, the markings are identical.

Well, I'm always ready to admit when I'm wrong. I stand corrected...it does appear to be a pike/chain pickerel hybrid. Just like the one I caught above. Here is a little reading on it:

I'm a pretty fair guy and all judges/fisherman seem to have great points. I would put this odd ball catergory to be panned out at the end as we still got half of winter yet. I would definitely put the tiger musky as a hybrid odd ball as it should be and if someone catches one it'll make it that much easier to choose the winner of the catergory. Easier said than done i know. Tight lines I think it's time to re-condition the well used icefishing gear for next month's use.

Tiger muskies we have always grouped in with the muskie category just to make it easier and they can obtain 40+" lengths. Pike pickerel hybrids are not common and definitely an oddball fish
