Time of day matters too. As does boat traffic

Re: Who's fishing this wknd and what's your target?
Still Trying to chase those walleye before the year ends - Targeting areas on the Delaware River and exploring more of the river in NJ on my new kayak.
Went on such a trip a few days ago. No walleye but got a few smallmouth bass, a pickerel and lost two medium mystery fish that could have been walleye for all i know. They were not tiny! Walleye are bound to start biting soon in the river. Last week went for blackfish for the first time off a jetty in central NJ and got a few keepers. Crossed that one off the list first try. If only walleye were that simple. |

Re: Who's fishing this wknd and what's your target?
Sat., tried wading RVR’s eastern shore. Kept sinking shin deep in sediment & rooted aquatic veg. fouled the lure. Won’t be going back there this winter.
On the southern shore there was a blue cooler filled with half rotted food: bread, crackers, cheese, etc. Perhaps, campers tired of dragging, abandoned it. I alerted RVR Parks. |

Re: Who's fishing this wknd and what's your target?
That sounds like fun Jigman. I'm sure I'll eventually find a spot like that too
During that last walleye trip I found a big school of 100+ creek chubs just chilling next to some rapids. Nothing was hunting them and surrounding water and deeper pools seemed devoid of life. Maybe the walleye go up to feed on them at night or the chubs spread out into the deeper water at night. |
