Capt is a commercial fisherman also. Trips usually run 40-60 off but he goes the distance to put the trip on fish and not afraid to burn some fuel. Boat is fast....Don't forget the Gulf doesn't drop off that deep until further out so you're still in the 100-150ft range in spots

Bigadam- I once ran 60 miles in the Gulf and was only in 60 feet of water, lots of grouper though !

it was a full day, with live bait catching at sunlight at the inlet. definitely worth the ride for the production that day

i took a party boat last minute just south of Venice this year, they fished 25 miles off. needless to say, the bite was not the same

my buddy had previously fished with Joe and they went 80 off and it was the best trip of his life, so I wouldn't be too critical
