Hardest part of stream trout fishing is learning how to read the water. Fish want to be where the current brings food to them, while they can expend minimal calories waiting for it. Behind rocks, in the current seams next to the main current, back eddies, undercut banks, etc.

Nice work getting on the bass and welcome to NJ.
For trout fishing you will probably want to get some kind of ultralight rod and spool a small reel with 4 pound test. This can be used for all kinds of panfish as well. |

I live in Ringwood and have been known to fish the ramapo from time to time. Let me know if you want to hook up and catch some trout. Of coarse I will have to blindfold you until we are at the spot.
