Costa Rica, Panama, or Guatemala I can give you a name in CR and I will let you know how things work out in Guatelama when we get back in March.

San Diego has some great fishing opportunities. I have fished there for yellow tail and giant squid, as well as rock bass and calico bass, but they offer some great long range trips for tuna and all the usual Pacific Sportfish. Check out this site for additional details: http://www.pointlomasportfishing.com/

Some of these trips range from a few days to 2 weeks.

I turn 60 that very same year & I'm looking into all the options like yourself. I want to do a fishing trip of a Lifetime. Keep me in the loop let me know what you plan. I know these types of trips you got to plan way in advance.

I'd hit one of those long range trips out of San Diego. Tons of boats to choose from and lots of species to fish for in one trip.

Doug,
Check out the link I posted. www.tropicstar.com

marlin, tuna, sailfish offshore

roosterfish, cubera snapper and all sorts of bottom grabbers inshore. Would be great to link up with a bunch of guys from Jersey.

Never been on a long range, but I have fished in San Diego on 24-30 hour trips for yellowtail, tuna etc.

Tropic Star for sure. Read Guy Harvey's book "Panama Paradise". Friends have been there and describe the fishing and accommodations as fantastic.
