I'll play devil's advocate here.. No one here will complain about those structures after a year or two,as long as there is access for the recreational fishing community.. They will add unprecedented new habitat for bottom dwelling species as well as congregate pelagics closer to shore..Not only that, but they will most likely take a lot of pressure off of hard hit wreck, rock and reef areas that are already well known and well established, making those spots more productive... I write all this on the assumption that recs have access as they do at Block island... Charter/head boat captains can increase their business by offering things such as late afternoon/twilight tours to the wind turbines as well..If you've never been close to one, its hard to describe the experience.. You stand there awe struck at the size and scope of those things.. If nothing else, they are impressive when you are close.. If for some reason they are deemed "off limits" and the area is patrolled by boats with mounted machine guns piloted by jack booted military types in full tac, well then all bets are off.. Its all about access. Those big turbines might become the NJ equivalent of the oil rigs in the Gulf as far as the impact of recreational fishing in NJ... Its coming guys, no stopping it now... I just think it will have more positives as far as fishing than most members here realize.. It all depends on access..... bob

All the info some of are posting comes directly from each of the companies that have been awarded the lease sections . All the info on each project is readily available. How long the build is How long there will be very limited access to the areas As well as the big unknown on all of them Is the actual distance you need to stay off them when the build moratorium stops etc Guys need to look at the actual impact each zone brings As well as many leases still haven’t been awarded . This project could actually take over a decade . Keeping us from navigating through huge areas . Add in the 10-11 mph speed limit will entirely change fishing as we know it . Seeing how poorly EVERY pilot project has gone . None making it a full five years . Many failing after jyst 2 years Shows this could possibly turn into the biggest scrap yard ever . .

Great idea. Let’s all rollover while they rape the ocean and our wallets.

all i'm saying is they will add a ton of fishing opportunities... they will increase habitat, not diminish it.. thats been proven time and time again. As far as the fiscal and political issues, I won't comment, and I do understand your position.. I just know there will be a lot of fish around those structures including a lot of big stuff.[large pelagic species]..As long as folks are allowed to fish them, as is the case at Block Island... I am only looking at this as a fisherman.. NOT a resident, so I can understand the consternation.... bob
