These are a little fuzzy. Focusing was a little tough while the breeze was moving them along on the surface. I watched as one was completely on its side after emerging upstream. It righted itself as its wings dried and became upright. That's when it dimpled the water as it prepared to liftoff. A puff of wind encouraged it to fly and fly it did. Others weren't so lucky.

And yes, I think the other pictures were of a red quill hendrickson. It was good to see the bugs starting to return. After the summer droughts and low water conditions, I was beginning to wonder what effects it would all have on the aquatic insect life.

Those are amazing pictures. Are you a professional photographer?
I have been studying 15 different types of trout rising form. Did you see any air bubbles? Did you hear any kissing sound? Depends on the rising form, trouts are taking either Dun, Emerger, Nymph or Spinners. If they are jumping, it's usually stone fly or most likely Caddis.
