Re: Here comes Irma
Steve, you stay safe. I'm on west coast, Bonita springs.
shutters on windows, gas for generator, food, water. Until we get the order to evacuate, we are staying put. Can't get anywhere from here. Gas stations are out of gas, so your one tank of fuel is what you'd have to expect to only have at this point. Driving north is next to impossible, hotels are full all the way to Pensacola plus beyond, roads are clogged, gas doesn't exist on the roads. Tom |

Re: Here comes Irma
Best of luck Shrimpy... As you know my daughter and son in law are in Port St Lucie... They are inland a bit and have decided to ride it out too.
Thinking of you all and on pins and needles here watching the news... Be safe and keep in touch... PS hope you have the dirty shrimp someplace safe as it could come in handy once the storm passes.

Re: Here comes Irma
Thank you all! I'm as set as I can be. I'm at work now, Saturday morning, getting the airboats secured for storm. Then heading home and hunkering down.
Tom. Not looking good for Bonita springs. If you can get to deland before or after storm I will put you up. 201-788-0060. Give a call if I can help!

Re: Here comes Irma
We are back home, as of yesterday. Spent the storm in Germain arena shelter. Holly sh.t what a storm. The eye did pass over us as a 2.
Spent yesterday opening the home back up, shutters off and airing out. No major water damage. Slight bit of water in the garage, and that had pulled back by the time we got home. Guessing an inch, maybe. Wasn't much. Freezer was still solid, frig's were still relatively cold yesterday. Today they all get a boost of power to bring them back up to cold. Ceiling fans are running fine, no AC, generator is too small to run that. Have enough gas to run 3 more days give and take. Don't run 24/7. Just daylight hours. Sun is out, windows open and a slight breeze. It's really nice out. Today we are running the generator, have running water and sewer. Garage is open and airing out. We lost nothing in way of items. Home itself was an island we came home to. Today it is going down. Road is flooded but I'm able to get out with the excursion. We are so happy we went to a shelter. Don't know the history of the home we rent. That's the 2nd time we've had this much water up to the home in 3 weeks. We are so out of this place come April when the lease is up. Time to find higher ground or at least dryer place. We can't do this to ourselves on purpose next year. What a life experience. Thanks Steve and to all others. |
