When I used to use gulp ....add the grub to the bucktail then attach the stinger hook to the bend of the bucktail hook via a loop. I would the pass the stinger sideways at the base of where the curly tail started. The bucktail hook is vertical while the stinger hook is horizontal. That' s just the way I did it. I'm sure there are other ideas out there. Also if you just want to use a bucktail; no stinger I would recommend taking a bit of the grub off so that the hook of the bucktail comes out near the base of the curly tail. It's the action of the tail the fish see and peaks its interest......or you can just fish the wacky kwacky rig and forget all this bucktail/gulp shenanigans

Cool Re: Fluke 6 inch gulp

I have had the tails bitten off also when fishing the ocean by the SHR. I don't think it's Fluke doing this. I think it's either small Sea Bass or Porgy's. There mouth are too small to be hooked most of the time but they are tearing off the tails!

here ya go. If this doesnt work the tails are getting hammered by sea bass and other small fish.

super simple rig

whats good is not much is exposed of the second hook except on a short strike, so it doesnt snag to bad.
Just need to make sure to position the second hook into in a way that keeps the grub straight so it doesnt roll.
